Karate

Shito Ryu Renshikan Karate training focuses on the study of Karate Do, the "way of karate", encompassing physical techniques of karate combined with a lifelong self-improvement journey of moral discipline, character, and mental focus.

Basic Techniques

Blocking, punching, kicking, and stances.

Kata

Sequences of moves passed through generations forming the basis of Karate and teaching.

Bunkai

Applications of Kata.

Kumite

Sparring.

Self-Defence

Te Hodoki (hand escapes), Kansetsu Waza (joint locks), and Nage Waza (throws).

Kobudo

In addition, Renshikan provides the opportunity to learn Okinawan Kobudo (the study of traditional weapons).

Bo

The 6-foot staff.

Jo

The 4-foot staff.

Hanbo

The 3-foot staff.

Sai

The three-pronged truncheon.

Tonfa

The baton or night stick.

Kama

The sickle.

Iaido

The way of the sword, including the study of drawing, techniques and kata of the katana (the long sword).
